Friday, March 21, 2025 10:30-11:30am

Bring your little ones to come celebrate the first full day of Spring with us! Together we will all go on a guided early spring walk and participate in a nature craft.  On our short walk we will observe signs of spring and discover early spring edible, medicinal plants, and perhaps some nesting materials. Then we will return to the shop to make locally foraged grass nests, and recycled paper-seed eggs with native wildflower seeds.

This is a rain or shine event! If the weather is not favorable for outdoor activities we will be working with lots of hand-ons materials, and studying wild fibers for nest making indoors. Come in clothes you are okay with getting messy in!

*Only a child's ticket is required to be purchased. Adults are not charged for, but are expected to stay with child for the duration of the event.

About your instructor:

Mandi is an experienced forager and owner of Hum Wildcraft.  Her earliest memory foraging was eating wild chives at her bus stop  as a kid. Now she forages over 100 species annually, which she incorporates into her daily cooking and herbal medicine practice. She has taught native landscaping classes at Frederick Meijer Gardens, led foraging experiences, and created interactive learning activities for kids. In 2024 she studied under renowned herbalist jim mcdonald and is constantly reading Ethnobotanical and herbal texts to continue her learning. She fully believes that reconnecting people to plants as food and medicine is the balm to heal the world.
